They have filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court and alleges that Santa Monica-based Activision has fired both of them to avoid paying royalties on Modern Warfare 2, which has generated over $1 billion in retail sales.
The complaint states, “Activision has refused to honor the terms of its agreements with Mssrs. West and Zampella and is intentionally flouting the public policy of this State that employers must pay their employees what they have rightfully earned.”
However, the spokesperson for Santa Monica-based Activision has not yet responded to the issue.
It is noted in the complaint that after Activision acquired Infinity Ward for a total of $5 million in 2003, a three-year employment agreements was signed with West and Zampella.
The two were the co-founders of the Encino-based studio and were most recently served as president and chief executive.
